boys to men.

when cousin brought me out the other day, he was all high about his girlfriends birthday and their 4 month or year anniversary. sorry couldn't remember the proper details. i was too bothered to pay proper attention. heh. told me how he splurge his salary on a candlelight dinner at some hotel either Furama or some other F-starting hotels. which is how he describe as being sweet, thoughtful and yes, romantic.
and this is what he told me - "Maliah, eh, kau not bad also wadd. I mean, you got the ideal qualities that a guy wants. Smart and very girl-next-door type. Yes, also bubbly. Harap-harap in future, kau dapat boyfriend that is like me...". anyway, what he said actually made me think through again what i wanted in a guy. in future, of course. looking back, do i really want a guy who's willing to splurge his salary at me for a romantic candlelight dinner with a backdrop of the city?
hahaha. of course, what he did was romantic and sweet and thoughtful and everything else but, somehow it just seems quite overboard. and to be honest, i don't even know how to react if it was me. of course, who wouldn't be honored right? especially if you have that sort of boyfie who's willing to lavish you with almost anything that you asked for even thought to be honest, he just can't seem to make ends meet sometimes.
i guess, for me, its enough if i have a person who loves me for who i am and never quick to judge. also, someone who respect my parents and those values that i hold dear and is able to socialise with my family. because afterall, family is still my upmost priority. and, its really key to have both parties - my future boyfriend and my family to interact well.
i would want someone who's spontaneous, just like daddy, the one who is able to pull anything anytime. haha. and yes, a good listener who is not quick to give remarks but listens patiently. because, me, being a very talkative person, i would want someone to shut me up.
he need not be romantic and everything but its enough that he really demonstrates through his actions how he truly cares for me. because as the saying goes, actions speaks louder than words. and its all those little, little things that one does that without you realising it, its one of those ways where people tell you that they care. and that's when the sincerity comes in. you may disagree with me because what's love without all those lovey-dovey exchanges but i just think that one has to be realistic. words don't last forever but actions are able to speak for themselves. right?
at just 16, there's still so many things that i have to learn and discover for myself. my elder cousins have told me how thrilling my teen years can be if i fully utilised it to truly experience it for myself. be ready for all those pitfalls and everything but of course, be strong so that i can pull myself back on track in time. somehow, im just excited to explore all the various possibilities around me. insyallah, with every experience that i gain and every challenges that i overcome, i am able to become a better individual in the process.
with loves.
